(Relaxnews) – Lois Lowry, author of 1993 sci-fi novel “The Giver,” considers Phillip Noyce’s August 2014 adaptation a faithful work, with her approval emblazoned across the film’s latest promotional image.

Starring Brenton Thwaites (“Maleficent”), Odeya Rush (“The Odd Life of Timothy Green”), Jeff Bridges (“Tron: Legacy”) and Meryl Streep (“The Iron Lady”), “The Giver” has Thwaites’s character Jonas discover the ugly truth behind his futuristic utopian society.

Set to release on August 15 alongside an action-packed “The Expendables 3,” “The Giver” can distinguish itself by its lauded literary heritage, with Lowry having won the 1994 Newberry and Regina medals as a result, followed by the ALA’s Margaret Edwards Award in 2007.

“It’s all there,” she says, her quote central to new art carried by The Hollywood Reporter. “The boy. The old man. The baby. The sled. If you loved the book take my word for it – you’ll love the movie as well.”

As well as “The Expendables 3,” “The Giver” is also placed between two other book adaptations when it comes to the US release calendar.

“The Hundred-Foot Journey,” adaptating Richard Morais’s 2010 story of a French town’s warring restaurateurs, arrives August 8 with Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal in starring roles, while “If I Stay,” based on Gayle Forman’s 2009 young adult novel, has Chloë Grace Moretz as lead and is due August 22.
