(Relaxnews) – When a chart mapping America’s favorite beers began circulating online, Google users in the US took to the search engine to look up Blue Moon, making it the most popular beer brand of 2013.

Similarly, when American crime drama “The Blacklist” featured the Aviation cocktail on one of their episodes recently, thirsty viewers took to Google to look up the retro blue-tinged beverage, making it the most popular search term in the cocktails category.

In Google’s annual Zeitgeist report that tracks the hottest trends of 2013, Colorado-based Blue Moon topped the beer category over mainstream brands like Bud Light and Coors. Known for its Belgian white, Blue Moon emerged America’s favorite beer in a survey of about 5,250 drinkers published this year.

But the label has also attracted a storm of controversy in the industry, for what critics charge are misleading claims: though the brand pitches itself as an artisanal, craft brewer, the company is owned by MillerCoors.

Meanwhile, when a new American drama starring James Spader, “The Blacklist,” featured the retro cocktail classic the Aviation on an episode, it was all the plug needed to drive the beverage — made with gin, maraschino liqueur, creme de violette and lemon juice — into the top spot as the most popular cocktail on Google.

Here are the most popular search terms in the beer category on Google in 2013:

1. Blue Moon
2. Bud Light
3. Bud Light Premium
4. Kingfisher
5. Stella Artois
6. Bud Light Lime
7. Coors
8. Yuengling

Here are the top 10 cocktails searched on Google in the US:
