Los Angeles, 19 November 2012 – Consul General Maria Hellen Barber De La Vega attended the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremony of Island Pacific Supermarket, Rancho Cucamonga Branch held on 16 November 2012.

In her message, the Consul General said that she considers the opening of the Rancho Cucamonga branch a milestone as this is the first of such Filipino businesses in San Bernardino County where 32 percent of the population are Filipinos.

The new Island Pacific Supermarket will house tenants that will provide other services like remittances, cargo shipping, salon and food court, creating a virtual Philippine village, which will very much benefit our kababayans in San Bernardino county.

The Consul General believes that Island Pacific, with its extensive branches and networks all over the America, brings Filipinos abroad closer to their home, the Philippines.  By patronizing Philippine commodities, Filipinos in the United States also help increase Philippine exports and employment for Filipinos back home.
