Dakota Johnson to play Johnny Depp’s companion in crime drama
(Relaxnews) – The actress slated to headline “Fifty Shades of Grey” in 2015 is in talks for a major role in “Black Mass,” a biopic of the Boston Irish mafia boss Whitey Bulger.
The daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Dakota Johnson is in line to co-star with Johnny Depp, who will play Whitey Bulger in this Warner Bros feature. According to Deadline.com, the 24-year-old actress is negotiating the role of Lindsey Cyr, who was Bulger’s companion for over 12 years.
Scott Cooper (“Out of the Furnace”) will direct “Black Mass,” which will examine the life of the gangster who ruled over the Boston crime scene for over 40 years. Bulger went on the lam in the 1990s and was finally arrested in 2011 at age 81.
Guy Pearce and Joel Edgerton will also appear in “Black Mass,” which is slated to enter production before the end of 2014.
