(Relaxnews) – This monster truck is not just monster in terms of size, it’s also equally massive in the performance department.

A seriously customized 9-liter supercharged HEMI engine under the hood is capable of pumping out 2000hp — that’s almost two Bugatti Veyrons. That said, the world’s greatest supercar weighs considerably less than 4672kg.

The Monster Truck — the Mopar Muscle — stands 10 feet high (3 meters), is based on the production Ram Heavy Duty Truck and what makes it so special is that it is the first new Monster Truck built by a manufacturer to compete in the sport’s premier league — The Monster Truck Racing Series Monster Jam — in a decade.

It’s also the first time that Mopar has been involved in the sport — a huge draw in its native US — and is doing so in part to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its now-legendary Gen II 426 HEMI engine. It is the powerplant that essentially gave birth to the muscle car movement and has clocked up more than its fair share of race victories in its time.

However, it will be the first time the HEMI takes on all challengers in this particular discipline.

The truck will be raced by the Hall Brothers and is scheduled to compete in six events in 2014 the first of which, on January 11n is the Monster Jam in Detroit.
