Donald Laurino, MSN,CCRN,CMSRN,PHN,RN-BC, a Filipino-American nurse educator, was recently selected as the honorable mention recipient of Elsevier Master Teacher Award 2016. His nomination reflects the commitment he has shown not only to bettering students’ lives, but also to improving the quality of health care provided to patients.  His selection for honorable mention places him among the top health careers educators in the United States.

The Master Teacher Award recognizes best practices in teaching in the allied health disciplines and presented by Elsevier, a leading health sciences information provider.

Laurino was also selected as an item-writer for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination (NCLEX). NCSBN, headquartered in Chicago, is responsible for developing and administering the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN licensing exams.

Laurino was approved by the California Board of Nursing and selected by NCSBN to participate on the NCLEX item development panel of subject matter experts which was held in Chicago, IL back last March.

Laurino was one of the ten nurses from across the nation to be selected for this assignment. He was nominated on the basis of clinical specialty and nursing expertise.

Laurino received his Master of Science in Nursing degree from University of San Diego and Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Centro Escolar University, Manila. He has more than 20 years of experience in nursing education teaching in an LVN/LPN, ADN, and BSN-Entry Level Masters program.
