MANILA (Mabuhay) — Julie Anne San Jose is known for actively posting cover songs on streaming services Ustream, YouTube and SoundCloud despite having already established herself as a bankable recording artist.

Among her covers that became viral is her take on Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” that has garnered some 19 million views on YouTube and counting.

Much as she’d like to keep indulging her fans, though, she hasn’t done any new videos lately due to her busy schedule.

She explained the venture is her way of thanking those who have been supportive of her career from the start.

“It’s my way of connecting with them para at least ’di nila (fans) maramdaman na nawawala ako,” she said.

This is why she personally replies to fan queries on Twitter.

“Importante ’yun eh, kasi ‘di mo man sila kilala personally pero kilala ka nila. Kaya minsan nagko-conduct din ako ng Twitter party,” she said.

Despite her soaring career, Julie Anne is bent on finishing her studies. She is enrolled as a fourth year Mass Communication major at the Angelicum College and is a dean’s lister.

The singer-actress admitted it is not easy to balance time between work and school but she keeps to it, intending to make her parents happy.

In fact, she looks forward to earning a master’s degree in UP.

Unlike most teens her age, Julie Anne doesn’t have barkada.

“Medyo loner din po kasi ako eh. ’Di rin naman po ako nagsi-spend ng time with them kasi kapag nag-aaral ako, gusto ko tutok sa binabasa ko,” she shared.

Apparently, Julie Anne has always strived to be on top of her class since grade school.

Though hindi man perfect ’yung attendance ko, mine-make sure ko na kasama pa rin ako sa top,” she said.

The singer’s love life is at standstill for now. Apparently, she’s in no hurry to get into a relationship because she prefers to focus on opportunities coming her way.

(MNS)
