Kate Winslet has been offered a role in “Triple Nine” that was previously eyed by Cate Blanchett.

(Relaxnews) – The star-studded cast of “Triple Nine” is about to glow even brighter. Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Michael B. Jordan, Michael Pena, Gal Gadot and Teresa Palmer are all in talks to join the forthcoming feature from Australian director John Hillcoat (“The Road,” “Lawless”).

In preparation since summer 2013, this ambitious crime thriller has attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood. According to Deadline.com, all six actors are negotiating the final details of their participation in “Triple Nine.”

The project is already counting on the participation of Casey Affleck and “12 Years a Slave” star Chiwetel Ejiofor. The thriller will follow a group of corrupt police officers blackmailed by the Russian mafia into carrying out a nearly impossible high-stakes heist. To create a diversion, the dirty cops decide to assassinate a fellow policeman. But their plan is derailed by a rookie officer, played by Affleck.

“Triple Nine,” which is scheduled to begin shooting this summer, will be set on the streets of Los Angeles. The film’s title is a reference to 999, the police code for “officer down” among US police forces.
