(Relaxnews) – Ever fancied having a peek around London’s most famous buildings?

Open House London” is offering visitors the chance to do just that, with 800 of the capital’s buildings opening their doors to the public for one weekend this fall, including Burlington House and the Museum of the Order of Saint John.

Contemporary architectural icons “the Gherkin”, the Shard and “the Cheesegrater” will all be in the spotlight as the program looks at London’s developing skyline and its impact on citizens.

Even Farringdon, Moorgate and Canary Wharf Crossrail construction sites will be open to the public.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Revealing’, with the aim of showing visitors how buildings impact upon their lives, in addition to exploring “how good design can make London a more liveable city”.

London’s first Open House event took place over 20 years ago; major global cities including New York, Chicago, Rome and Buenos Aires hold similar events.

Open House London” will run from September 20-21.
