SHE has made a name for herself in the local entertainment scene for her talent and beauty. But unknown to many, Kapuso actress Marian Rivera is also making waves in Vietnam, Cambodia and maybe, in parts of Africa.

In November last year, the GMA-7 Primetime Queen visited Vietnam to appear on several shows in Today TV, one of the largest networks and was the first to air Filipino dramas in the said country.

Marian was welcomed by a lot of fans, which she didn’t expect.

She was also hailed “Most Favorite Foreign Actress” by Today TV during its Face of the Year Awards last January 8.

Marian wasn’t able to attend the event because of showbiz commitments in Manila but she sent a video message thanking all her fans.

“Marimar,” “Dyesebel,” “Amaya,” and “Temptation of Wife” were already shown in Vietnam and Cambodia. “Ang Babaeng Hinugot Sa Aking Tadyang” will follow suit.

The actress said that “Endless Love,” the Filipino version of hit Korean drama “Autumn in My Heart,” is now being aired in some African nations.

Even with the warm reception and success she’s experiencing from those countries, Marian remains focused on her job.

Mas more on naeexcite ako, mas more on masaya ako kaysa sa ipressure ko ang sarili ko,” she said.

Marian’s latest challenge is the evening series “Carmela,” which she top bills opposite Alden Richards. This is her first primetime project after renewing her contract with GMA-7 for three years last August.

According to the actress, the station gave her four scripts to choose from, and she was given the liberty to pick her leading man.

Nilatagan nila ako ng mga gusto kong gawin and pinapili talaga nila ako,” she said.

When asked why she chose Alden, Marian explained: “Mahal niya ang trabaho niya and yun ang mahalaga sa akin.

Alden recently turned 22 while Marian is already 29 years old.

Aside from the series, Marian will be featured in two movies under Regal Films. She hinted that her leading men will come from rival networks.

“Carmela” premieres on January 27. (MNS)
