(Relaxnews) – ‘Tis the season to be jolly, but that doesn’t have to mean red cheeks and unkempt facial hair. Here’s our man’s guide to grooming yourself for the holiday season.

Shaving like a pro -

It all starts with a good clean shave. Blogger Aaron Marino shows you how to get the perfect shave. Start by washing your face with warm water and a facial wash to open up and clean your pores. Then apply a layer of shave oil to help improve the closeness of the shave. Aaron also recommends using less shaving cream, which helps you get a closer shave. The key to avoid redness is to shave with the grain with small strokes, washing and cleaning the blade as you go. Wash off your face with cool water to close pores and then moisturize to finish.

Trimming eyebrows -

Santa’s bushy brows might add to the holiday spirit, but that doesn’t mean you need to copy him. Check out this quick and easy way to sort out any unkempt owl-like, facial furr-niture. Still, eyebrow grooming does not need to mean a Joey Tribbiani-style accident that leaves you with brows that are little bit too ‘shaped’. This video shows you a simple trick using a handheld trimmer and a comb that helps to thin out and realign the brow without any dramatic accidents.

Undercover grooming -

If you’re feeling a little braver, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury shows how just a few men’s grooming products can help perk your face up when you’re feeling tired (perfect for the busy holiday party season). She starts by cleansing the face, before adding an eye reviver and some YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes, as well as a light bronzing gel. Sugar lip polish removes dead skin, and a lip balm adds some moisture. You can also add a couple of drops of Visine to help revive tired eyes, if you’re feeling worse for wear.
