The latest edition of Michelin Kansai is due out this week in Japan, with Japanese restaurants making up the majority of the addresses.

(Relaxnews) – Three more restaurants in Japan have been added to the club of two Michelin stars in the 2015 edition of the red book for Kansai.

In its sixth year, inspectors bestowed two stars on two new restaurants in Kyoto and the same rating on another dining destination in Osaka.

In Kyoto, the new distinctions were awarded to Mitsuyasu and Iida, which climbed the ranks from one to two stars. Aoki brought two more stars to Osaka.

This year, 16 new restaurants have also been inducted into the one-starred club.

The Michelin Kansai guide covers four cities in the area, including Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and Nara.

The Bib Gourmand section, which lists good value eats, also saw the addition of 18 new addresses. Italian restaurants lead the pack with 48 addresses, followed by French cuisine (36).

But overall, the guide is dominated (60 percent) by traditional Japanese cuisine or washoku.

Here’s the final star count for Kansai:

*** 14 restaurants
** 54 restaurants
* 186 restaurants
Bib Gourmand 84

The 2015 MICHELIN guide Kansai will go on sale in Japan on October 23. A digital version of the guide will also be available from October 20.
