Panini presents official 2014 World Cup sticker album
(Relaxnews) – In contrast to the American tradition of baseball card collecting, hardly as popular as it once was, the international pastime of soccer sticker collecting is still alive and well, particularly in the lead up to the World Cup. Panini, the world’s largest publisher of collectibles, has now announced the event’s official licensed album and sticker collection featuring all 32 teams taking part in the tournament.
Panini has introduced two new lines of collectibles, one through its traditional FIFA World Cup sticker album and the other through the Adrenalyn XL trading card game. The cards detail the strengths and weaknesses of each athlete, allowing fans to compose their ideal team, as in the FIFA Ultimate Team video game from Electronic Arts.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup sticker collection, meanwhile, consists of 640 stickers including 40 ‘shiny’ ones, which highlight exceptional players, team mascots or team logos. In addition to giving fans a place to save their stickers, the new album provides everything there is to know about the tournament in Brazil, including a match schedule, two pages on the stadiums, and four pages on the host cities.
The album, five sticker packs and an exclusive fan card will be sold together for €3.50. Additional sticker packs are available separately or in a blister pack of eight or 16 (including two free).
In the trading card game, fans can collect up to 416 cards. A starter pack at €9.95 includes a binder, game board, rules sheet, checklist and a limited edition XXL card, while individual packs of six cards will be available for €1 each.
Panini is also giving fans the chance to create their own sticker for their 2014 FIFA World Cup collection by uploading a photo.
