(Relaxnews) – MGM is preparing an update of the action movie “Road House,” reports.

“Fast and Furious” and “xXx” director Rob Cohen will helm the remake of the 1989 film, starring Patrick Swayze opposite Ben Gazzara.

“Roadhouse” was a box-office flop, but it gained something of a cult following in the following decades amongst fans of 1980s B-movies.

Directed by Rowdy Herrington, “Road House” showed how a smooth-talking but ruthless bouncer comes to a small Missouri town to clean up a bar dominated by thugs.

Michael Stokes is currently writing the screenplay for the remake. MGM has yet to announce a production timeline.
