Spring 2014: women’s fragrances not to miss
(Relaxnews) – As the days grow longer, a number of perfume makers and beauty brands are preparing to launch new fragrances for the Spring-Summer season. While some brands, such as Cartier, have chosen to unveil entirely new scents, others have transformed their more popular perfumes into light eau de toilette fragrances that are perfect for summer.
L’Eau de Toilette by Carven
The luxury brand announced its second fragrance on February 27, the same day it presented its Fall-Winter 2014 ready-to-wear collection in Paris. Composed by the nose Francis Kurkdjian, L’Eau de Toilette is characterized by notes of Italian lemon, peony, freesia and white hyacinth, combined with an accord of blonde woods and musk. Available in three formats, this summery fragrance is on sale now exclusively at Colette, the Parisian boutique, and will make its way to perfume counters worldwide from April.
Price: €42 (around $58) for 30ml, €62 (around $85) for 50ml, €80 (around $110) for 100ml
Paris Premières Roses Edition Limitée by YSL
Yves Saint Laurent is launching a springtime edition of Paris, the iconic fragrance launched in 1983. Fresher and brighter than its predecessor, the new version was created by Dominique Ropion, who combined floral notes (wild rose, violet, lily of the valley, Rosa Damescena and peony) with a sandalwood and white musk accord. The multifaceted flacon is transparent, revealing the pale pink essence.
Price: €77 (around $105) for 125ml.
Elle L’aime Eau de Toilette by Lolita Lempicka
Less than a year after launching Elle L’aime, the French brand has transformed the romantic eau de parfum into a lighter eau de toilette. This white floral fragrance opens with notes of red currant, citrus zest, jasmine blossoms and wild rose over a heart of sandalwood, blonde woods and musk. Like that of the original fragrance, the flacon is adorned with the name Lolita Lempicka in stylized gold lettering. The Elle L’aime Eau de Toilette will go on sale from mid-April.
Price: €54 (around $74) for 40ml and €72 (around $99) for 80ml.
Alien Eau Extraordinaire by Thierry Mugler
The French fashion house is rolling out a new springtime version of its iconic perfume, Alien. This “Eau Extraordinaire,” developed by noses Véronique Nyberg and Dominique Ropion, is characterized by notes of Tunisian neroli and Italian bergamot-scented tea, paired with an accord of tiare flower and cashmeran. The entire composition is enhanced by hints of white amber and heliotrope. Alien Eau Extraordinaire will be available from March 17.
Price: from €63 for refillable 60ml spray.
La Panthère by Cartier
The French luxury brand drew inspiration from one of its signature symbols — the panther — for its new springtime fragrance. Developed by the nose Mathilde Laurent, La Panthère is based on the intoxicating aroma of gardenia blossoms, paired with cypress and musk accords. The flacon has a panther head engraved on the inside, resulting in a unique effect. La Panthère Eau de Parfum will arrive in stores from March 15.
Price: €59 (around $80) for 30ml, €85 (around $115) for 50ml and €105.5 (around $145) for 75ml.
