(Relaxnews) – The “Tarzan” reboot that’s been in development for two years has officially entered into pre-production, Warner Bros. announced on February 12.

Warner Bros. also confirmed that Alexander Skarsgard, Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz will star in this new movie based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’s books, with David Yates (“Harry Potter”) directing.

While details about the plot are scarce, rumors suggest it will center on the hero’s assimilation into London society under the name of John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with Queen Victoria asking him to investigate diamond trafficking in the Congo.

“True Blood” star Alexander Skarsgard follows in the steps of Johnny Weissmuller, Christophe Lambert and Casper Van Dien as Tarzan. Margot Robbie has been cast as Jane, Samuel L. Jackson will portray a friend of Tarzan and Christoph Waltz one of his enemies.

Still going strong at almost 102, Tarzan also features in an animated film by German director Reinhard Klooss that is now rolling out internationally.
