After Vogue and Bon Appetit magazines declared 2016 the summer of the frosé, backyard barbecues and neighborhood bars have been serving up tray-loads of blush-pink slushies to sun-soakers.

If you haven’t heard of it already, here’s the lowdown on the hot cocktail trend: summertime’s favorite wine, rosé, is frozen, spiked with pureed strawberries or strawberry juice, and thrown in the blender to create a slush-like consistency.

The result is a refreshing, adult version of the Slushie, which judging from the slew of Instagram testimonies, is particularly popular among women drinkers.

Increased sightings of frosé on Instagram through the summer seem to lend credence to Bon Appetit’s prediction.

One of the biggest sources? New York’s Bar Primi by local celebrity chef Andrew Carmellini, which has been popping up all over Instagram as the go-to place for a frothy frosé.

recently-published video by Insider that goes behind the scenes of the making of Bar Primi’s frosé has also racked up 9.47 million views and 63,000 likes on Facebook, and has been shared more than 57,000 times.

The trend is likewise making its way overseas, with the Beaufort House in London debuting their version of the frosé last week.

If neither restaurant is in your vicinity, Bon Appetit’s frosé recipewill allow you to stretch out the remaining summer days of August with the frothy frozen cocktail at home.

Their tip? To choose a full-bodied, dark-colored rosé that can hold up to the diluting effects of freezing.
