Trailer: Emma Roberts falls for James Franco in ‘Palo Alto’
(Relaxnews) – A new trailer has been released for the teenage drama directed by Gia Coppola, Francis Ford’s granddaughter. The feature is based on James Franco’s semi-autobiographical book “Palo Alto: Stories.”
After making the rounds at film festivals in late 2013 — including screenings in Venice, Telluride and Toronto — “Palo Alto” has made its way to Yahoo Movies in a new trailer. The video reveals an exploration of adolescence, complete with confusion and romance, set in the California town. In her directorial debut, Gia Coppola’s filmmaking style bears a resemblance to that of her aunt Sofia, known for her films “The Virgin Suicides” and “Lost in Translation.”
The protagonists of “Palo Alto,” two troubled high school students, are brought to the screen by Emma Roberts and Jack Kilmer. Roberts plays April, who falls in love with her soccer coach, played by James Franco. Kilmer takes on the role of Teddy, who starts to veer down the same path as one of his thrill-seeking friends. Chris Messina, Val Kilmer and Nat Wolff are also in the cast.
“Palo Alto” is due for US release on May 9.
