(Relaxnews) – A first trailer has been released for the classic musical’s modern movie adaptation.

A 2m30s video offers a look at the little orphan Annie, as played by Quvenzhané Wallis (“12 Years a Slave”), protected by millionaire and mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks, in the skin of Jamie Foxx.

Cameron Diaz becomes orphanage tyrant Miss Hannigan, and Rose Byrne completes the cast of principal characters as Stacks’s faithful assistant, Grace.

The trailer puts forward two contemporary versions of the original songs “Tomorrow” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life.”

Jay Z, who is co-producing alongside Will Smith, previously sampled the second song’s famous chorus for his 1998 breakthrough success “Hard Knock Life.”

“Annie” will arrive in North American theaters on December 19.
