(Relaxnews) – Rising star Benedict Cumberbatch plays activist Julian Assange in the new drama/thriller that goes behind the scenes of Wikileaks.

Daniel Brühl, Laura Linney, Carice van Houten, Stanley Tucci, Moritz Bleibtreu and Anthony Mackie also appear in the trailer, available from DreamWorks Studios on the film’s official YouTube channel.

“The Fifth Estate” will examine how the Wikileaks site managed to undermine international diplomacy in 2010 through the release of highly sensitive information. The script highlights the more intimate intrigues occurring in the shadow of the worldwide news, examining the battle of wills and idealism between the Swedish Assange and his lieutenant Daniel Domscheit-Berg.

The feature film is scheduled for release in the US and Canada on October 11.
